Adolfo Hohenstein (1854–1928) was a German-Italian painter, illustrator, and graphic artist who played a major role in the development of early Italian poster design. Cachou Lajaunie was created by Leonetto Cappiello in 1900 for the French maker of Cachou Lajaunie breath mints and printed by Imprimerie Vercasson, Paris. At this time, stone lithography was the standard method for high-quality advertising posters, allowing for precise color and detail.

This large-format stone lithograph (51 × 79 in.) is an important early work by Cappiello and one of the rarest automobile-related posters of the period. The design captures the luxury and style of the emerging motor age, showing a driver and elegant passenger in one of Charron’s distinctive early cars.
The poster is linen backed and graded B+ condition. It retains strong original colors. There are some folds and restorations, which are pictured, but in a frame these would not be noticeable. Overall it presents very well, particularly given the rarity and scale of the piece.

They manufactured bicycles and Motorcylces as shown in the poster with the lady in thebackround on a bicycle and the dapper fellow in the forground is looking at a Map from 1922 to get to his destination. Dressed in a 3 piece suit and fancy leather shoes, his Terrot Motorcycle was state of the Art of the time. Springer front End and footrests all the comforts. Even with the slight red bleed the poster is super stuff and you wont find another anytime soon. It is very RARE !!
