Paris was created by Paul Colin in 1946 for the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (French National Railways). The design brings together several of the city’s most recognized landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Eiffel Tower. In the foreground, doves in flight add a symbolic note of peace in the post-war period.
The composition uses vibrant blue, red, gold, and cream tones on a light blue background, with the title lettering along the lower edge printed in gold ink. Printed in lithography, this mid-century French travel poster reflects the optimism and renewed cultural life of Paris in the years following World War II.
