Carnaval de Nice was created by Jean Luc in 1950 for the celebrated annual carnival held in Nice, France. The event, one of the oldest and most famous carnivals in the world, is known for its elaborate parades, colorful floats, and lively street celebrations along the Promenade des Anglais.
The 1950 edition took place during the postwar revival of the carnival, when the city was re-establishing its cultural traditions and welcoming international visitors back to the French Riviera.
Printed by Imprimerie Meyerbeer in Nice using lithography, the poster captures the festive spirit of the Riviera’s signature winter event. This example has been mounted on linen for preservation and is in excellent “A” condition.

Venezia was issued by the Italian State Tourist Office (ENIT) circa 1950 and printed by Pizzi & Pizio, Milano–Roma. The composition uses the distinctive silhouette of a gondola’s prow (ferro) as a frame for a view of St. Mark’s Clock Tower (Torre dell’Orologio), with its bell and the bronze figures known as the “Moors.”
The poster was produced in offset lithography and reflects the mid-century ENIT approach of combining strong graphic shapes with a single, recognizable landmark to promote Italian destinations.
