Original German advertising poster for Crüwell Tabak, c. 1930s. The design shows a nighttime view of the Taj Mahal, linking the tobacco brand with imagery of the East. The text reads Gebr. Crüwell was a long-established German tobacco manufacturer with origins in the 18th century. By the early 20th century the company issued a number of decorative posters and point-of-purchase displays to promote its pipe tobacco products.
