TETE DE FEMME III (DORA MAAR) — BERGGRUEN — 90 GRAVURES — PABLO PICASSO — 1971
Original exhibition poster published by Galerie Berggruen in 1971 to promote an exhibition of 90 original prints by Pablo Picasso. The image is based on Tete de Femme III, representing Dora Maar, one of Picasso’s most important muses. A striking and rare exhibition poster by Carl Roesch for the Theaterkunst Ausstellung (Theatrical Art Exhibition) held at the Museum of Applied Art in Zurich in 1914. Carl Roesch (1884–1979), born in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, was a painter, graphic artist, and art teacher who studied fine and applied arts throughout Switzerland and Germany. After returning to his hometown in 1907, he developed a diverse career that included painting, graphic design, and large-scale decorative work such as murals, stained glass, and mosaics. His later work shows influences of Impressionism and Expressionism, while this early poster demonstrates a more structured and geometric approach, bridging his painterly sensibility with the emerging modernist graphic style of the period.
This design is one of only two known posters created by Roesch for the 1914 Theaterkunst exhibition, making it a particularly rare and important example of Swiss graphic design from the pre-war era. Starring Kirk Douglas as Ulysses and Silvana Mangano in the unforgettable dual roles of Penelope and Circe, the film was produced by Dino De Laurentiis and Carlo Ponti and directed by Mario Camerini. One of the earliest and most celebrated cinematic interpretations of The Odyssey, Ulisse became an international success and helped establish the great cycle of Italian epic films.

This original 1985 poster was created by Pegge Hopper for United Airlines to promote travel to Hawaii. Hopper is known for her stylized depictions of Hawaiian women and landscapes, often using simplified forms, strong outlines, and rich color harmonies that recall the work of Paul Gauguin in the South Pacific. The image reflects her distinctive interpretation of island life, emphasizing atmosphere, pattern, and the lush presence of tropical foliage.
Trained in design in California in the 1950s, Pegge Hopper later worked in Milan before settling in Hawaii, where the local environment became the central subject of her work. VENISE — OPERETTE EN 3 ACTES — CHARLES GIR — c.1927
Original French poster advertising the operetta Venise, performed at the Theatre Marigny in Paris. The operetta was written in three acts with music by Tiarko Richepin, libretto by Andre Mouezy Eon, and lyrics by Albert Willemetz. The design by Charles Gir presents an elegant Art Deco theatrical composition promoting the production.
Charles Gir (Charles Felix Girard, 1883–1941) was an illustrator, poster artist, painter, and caricaturist active in Paris during the early twentieth century. Closely associated with the theatrical and cultural life of the city, he produced posters for stage productions and illustrated literary works, while also contributing cartoons and caricatures to satirical publications such as La Baionnette and Le Rire. Gir was also known as a violinist and maintained a strong interest in opera and theater, which is reflected in many of his poster designs.

Walasse Ting (1929–2010) was a Chinese-born artist whose work bridges Abstract Expressionism, CoBrA, and Pop Art. After early exhibitions in Hong Kong, he settled in Paris where he associated with artists such as Pierre Alechinsky while remaining independent of any formal movement. His work combines elements of traditional Chinese painting with a modern, expressive, and highly gestural style, often focusing on recurring subjects such as women, horses, and flowers. Ting described himself as an autodidact, working freely between Eastern and Western influences, and was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1970.
