In this elegant 1904 poster for the French ballet Cigale, artist Maurice Leloir captures the frigid fate of one of the story’s central figures with remarkable sensitivity. The ballet, written by Henri Cain and set to music by the celebrated composer Jules Massenet, was performed at the Théâtre de l’Opéra-Comique in Paris. Leloir’s lithograph was printed by Imp. Devambez, one of the foremost Parisian art printers of the early 20th century. The poster announced the première of Massenet’s Cigale—a divertissement-ballet evoking the poetic melancholy and grace typical of fin-de-siècle French theater.

Original Italian advertising poster for Cinzano designed by Leonetto Cappiello. The image features Cappiello’s celebrated figure raising a glass of Cinzano, set against a bold graphic background characteristic of the artist’s influential poster style. Cappiello (1875–1942) was one of the most important poster artists of the early twentieth century and helped define modern advertising imagery with his dramatic compositions and vivid color contrasts.
This printing was issued for the 50th Fiera di Milano (Milan Fair), noted in the lower left margin, with the imprint Ricordi Arti Grafiche S.p.A., Milano appearing at the lower right.

Original German advertising poster for Crüwell Tabak, c. 1930s. The design shows a nighttime view of the Taj Mahal, linking the tobacco brand with imagery of the East. The text reads Gebr. Crüwell Spezialfabrik für Rauchtabak Gegr. 1717 Bielefeld (“Crüwell Brothers, Special Factory for Smoking Tobacco, Established 1717, Bielefeld”).
Crüwell was a long-established German tobacco manufacturer with origins in the 18th century. By the early 20th century the company issued a number of decorative posters and point-of-purchase displays to promote its pipe tobacco products. This example was printed on heavy board for shop display rather than wall posting, and is smaller in scale than typical lithographic advertising posters.

Arte Americana Anni Sessanta or Americana art from the 1960’s was a show that took place in Venise in 1987 with works by Andy Warhol of which this was the poster.
Original French advertising poster for Dubonnet, the well known quinquina aperitif. The design by Claire Masson (pseudonym Claire Mallon) depicts a young woman seated in a garden enjoying a glass of Dubonnet, accompanied by a small dog at her side. The composition reflects the elegant illustrative style of the early twentieth century, with flowing garments and a refined domestic setting typical of the Belle Epoque period.
This poster is considered the only known poster design by Claire Masson, a French artist who later became a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais during the 1920s. It is also among the earliest and rarest posters produced for Dubonnet, preceding the famous advertising campaigns of the 1930s created by Cassandre for the brand.
