San Salvadour near the port of Hyeres in the south of France not far from Saint Tropez, there is a station d’hiver to go to undertake cures for Arthritis, beaute and health. With its mineral water source it was a destination for Parisians at the turn of the century as part of the PLM French Railways system. Hugo D’Alesi is the artist and also the printer for the PLM. Excellent and rare.

Les Arts by Jules Cheret poster for Les Affiches Illustrees were plates printed at the Chaix Imprimerie in 1896 that featured the most famous artist of the day. Cheret was a master printer and artist, but also inventor and created the first lithographs in Stone. This enabled him to make several passes of colors using a stone for each color. This typeof printing method would be too expensive today, but it is the most artistic way of printing. The plate is in excellent condition.

LE COURRIER FRANÇAIS – CHERET – 1894 – LES AFFICHES ILLUSTREES
This plate reproduces Jules Chéret’s 1894 poster for Le Courrier Français, the Parisian illustrated weekly journal founded in 1884. The publication was known for its satirical content and its association with the artistic and literary life of Montmartre during the Belle Époque.
This example was issued as part of Les Affiches Illustrées, a series created by Chéret and printed at the Chaix Imprimerie between 1895 and 1900. The series was produced to make important contemporary posters available to collectors at a time when poster collecting was at its height. Each plate was printed by stone lithography with careful attention to quality and color.
