    Pablo Picasso Flowers or Bouquet of Peace original lithograph 1958

    $ 950

    Bouquet of Peace (1958) — Pablo Picasso

    Pablo Picasso’s Bouquet of Peace was created in 1958 as a symbol of hope, unity, and peace in the aftermath of World War II and during the tensions of the Cold War. Commissioned for the Stockholm Peace Congress held in July 1958, the artwork was used as a poster to promote the ideals of global solidarity and nonviolence.

    The image shows two hands offering a colorful bouquet of flowers, rendered in Picasso’s signature line drawing style. The simple gesture of giving flowers becomes a poetic metaphor for reconciliation and harmony across nations. Unlike more complex or confrontational political art, Bouquet of Peace communicates its message with warmth and optimism.

    Originally printed as a color lithograph by the master printer Fernand Mourlot in Paris, many editions were produced on fine Arches wove paper, a high-quality French paper known for its durability and subtle texture. These editions were distributed widely as posters and remain among the most beloved examples of Picasso’s postwar graphic work.

    Original exhibition poster, printed by Mourlot

    This original stone lithograph poster was created for the 1964 exhibition Hommage à Jean Cocteau at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, held shortly after Cocteau’s death. Printed by the renowned Atelier Mourlot in Paris, the poster features Cocteau’s line drawing Orpheus with Lyre, a lyrical and minimal composition emblematic of his visual style. The clean typography and spacious layout reflect the refined tone of the exhibition itself.

    Galerie Maeght – Marc Chagall, 1962 – “Le Oiseau Vert” (The Green Bird)

    In 1962, Marc Chagall created this stone lithograph to promote his exhibition at the renowned Galerie Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, on the Côte d’Azur in southern France. The gallery, established by Aimé Maeght, was one of the most important modern art venues in Europe, representing artists such as Miró, Braque, Calder, and Chagall himself.

    This particular poster, also known as Le Oiseau Vert (The Green Bird), showcases Chagall’s hallmark dreamlike imagery—blending vivid colors, floating figures, and symbolic animals. Printed by Imprimerie Mourlot in Paris, one of the leading fine art lithography ateliers of the 20th century, it exemplifies the collaborative tradition between Chagall and Mourlot, whose craftsmanship brought the artist’s painterly textures and luminous tones to life in print form.

    Unlined and in excellent condition, the poster measures 21 x 28 inches (53.5 x 71.1 cm). It stands as both a piece of exhibition history and a fine example of mid-20th-century French art lithography.
