Original German advertising poster for Crüwell Tabak, c. 1930s. The design shows a nighttime view of the Taj Mahal, linking the tobacco brand with imagery of the East. The text reads Gebr. Crüwell Spezialfabrik für Rauchtabak Gegr. 1717 Bielefeld (“Crüwell Brothers, Special Factory for Smoking Tobacco, Established 1717, Bielefeld”).

By the early 20th century the company issued a number of decorative posters and point-of-purchase displays to promote its pipe tobacco products.
