Pictured is the Castello Estense (Este Castle) is a moated medieval fortress located in the center of Ferrara, Italy. It was built in 1385 by Niccolò II d’Este, the ruler of Ferrara, in response to a popular uprising. The castle was designed as both a military stronghold and a noble residence, with its massive defensive towers, drawbridges, and elegant interior halls.
