Double Elvis by Andy Warhol 1987 Exhibition poster original
This is a vintage 1987 exhibition poster for “Americana Art from the 1960s,” held in Venice and featuring Andy Warhol’s “Double Elvis,” one of his most iconic pop art images. The work shows Elvis Presley in a repeated pose and reflects Warhol’s interest in celebrity and mass media. Warhol reportedly gave a version of “Double Elvis” to Bob Dylan, who later passed it to his manager, Bob Grossman. Grossman eventually sold it, showing the lasting value of Warhol’s work. The poster is linen-backed and in excellent condition. Warhol, born Andrew Warhola in 1928 in Pittsburgh, began his career as a commercial illustrator for publications like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. He moved into fine art in the 1960s, becoming known for using repeated images and bold color to depict celebrities and everyday items. His studio, The Factory, became a center for creative collaboration, and he also worked in film and music. Warhol died in 1987, the same year this poster was produced, and his work remains highly influential and collectible.
