Lady with a Rose Print by Gino Boccasile 1938 RARE !!! Calendar Poster
Lady with a Rose – Gino Boccasile – 1938
This beautiful and very rare original Italian chromolithograph by Gino Boccasile was created in 1938 for a calendar published by G. Lubrani, Calendari e Affini, Rome. Entitled Lady with a Rose, the composition features an elegant blonde woman reclining among flowering branches, dressed in a flowing white gown and holding a brilliant red rose. The soft modeling, rich colors, and romantic atmosphere are characteristic of Boccasile’s celebrated illustrations of beautiful women.
The print was originally designed with a calendar for the year 1938 occupying the blank space beneath the image. Boccasile was one of Italy’s most accomplished commercial illustrators, particularly admired for his glamorous depictions of women. This scarce surviving calendar print is a wonderful example of his prewar work and the sophisticated style of Italian advertising illustration.
