This vintage poster titled La Danseuse Créole appeared in 1965 to promote the Musée Matisse in Nice. It features an image based on a 1950 cut-out by Henri Matisse. The original artwork, made from gouache-painted paper, was inspired by American dancer Katherine Dunham. Matisse saw her perform in his studio and later created the piece.
