John Lennon by Richard Avedon for Stern 1967 Beatles poster
$ 195John Lennon by Richard Avedon (1967–68) – Original Beatles Pop Art Poster
This is the original 1967–68 Pop Art poster of John Lennon, created by photographer Richard Avedon for STERN Magazine in Germany. It is one of four color portraits from the complete Beatles series designed by Avedon during the height of the psychedelic era. These are authentic first printings, not later reproductions.
In late 1967, Avedon photographed each of the Beatles individually in a London studio he set up specifically for the project. Using vivid color overlays and solarized effects, he transformed the photographs into bold, symbolic Pop Art portraits that captured both the individuality of each Beatle and the visual energy of the 1960s. The posters were first printed and distributed in early 1968 through STERN Magazine and partner publications in the United States and Europe.
This image of John Lennon has become one of the defining visual representations of the era, blending fine art portraiture with the cultural revolution of the 1960s. It has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and remains one of the most collectible Beatles posters ever produced.
