During the 1920s, the Italian State Railways promoted domestic travel through striking posters. These advertisements encouraged Italians and international visitors to explore the country’s scenic and historic sites by train.
Cesare Simonetti, born in 1862, was well-known for his commercial art, particularly travel posters. His work appeared in various auctions, demonstrating his lasting influence on early 20th-century Italian design.
