    Original Italian advertising poster for Marsala Florio designed by Plinio Codognato. The slogan below reads “Ristora • Rinfranca • Rinforza,” emphasizing the restorative and invigorating qualities of Marsala Florio.

    This 1951 printing was issued by Gros Monti & Co., Torino, and is considered a later printing of Codognato’s celebrated Marsala Florio design originally created in the early 1930s. Menton is found along the Cote D’Azur between Monte Carlo and Italy. Beautiful and rare poster for one of the premiere destinations in the French Riviera. This is an authentic original printing in lithography from the period by Lucien Serre Printers in Paris who did most of the PLM posters of the period.

    Lithographic plate reproducing the poster design Onaranze a Volta by Adolfo Hohenstein, issued as part of the well-known Ricordi Portfolio. This series presented a selection of important poster designs printed by the Ricordi publishing house during the height of the Italian poster movement between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The portfolio gathered together small-format reproductions of these works and was distributed internationally in the early twentieth century.

    Casa Ricordi of Milan, originally a music publisher closely associated with the Italian opera world, developed a major lithographic printing workshop in the late nineteenth century. Through its printing department the firm produced posters for music, theatre, and commercial clients and became a central force in the development of the Italian poster. The artists working with Ricordi helped define the Italian version of Art Nouveau, often referred to as Stile Liberty.

    Leopoldo Metlicovitz (1868–1944) was one of the principal designers associated with Ricordi. His posters and illustrations are recognized for their elegant compositions and refined color work, and he contributed numerous designs for theatre, publishing, and advertising.

    Original plate Leçons de Violin by Paul Berthon, published as part of the Les Maîtres de l’Affiche series. Issued between 1895 and 1899, this celebrated project reproduced in reduced format the leading poster designs of the Belle Époque. Subscribers received four plates each month, printed by the Imprimerie Chaix in Paris under the artistic direction of Jules Chéret.

    Paul Berthon (1872–1909) was a French Art Nouveau artist and lithographer, admired for his elegant line, decorative motifs, and refined use of color. His work reflects the aesthetics of the Art Nouveau period, often compared to Alphonse Mucha, and includes both poster design and decorative arts.

    The plate was printed by Chaix, the foremost Parisian printer of posters at the time, whose work defined the visual culture of the 1890s.

    This example measures 11 × 16 in. (28 × 40.6 cm) and is preserved in excellent “A” condition.

    Original 1933 Italian travel poster featuring Villa Rufolo in Ravello, designed by Publio Morbiducci and issued by the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT). Ravello, a medieval village set high above the Amalfi Coast, is renowned for its panoramic views and historic architecture. Villa Rufolo, built in the 13th century by a wealthy merchant family, blends Arab, Moorish, and classical influences reflecting Ravello’s position on Mediterranean trade routes. The villa is famously mentioned in Boccaccio’s Decameron (1353).

    From the late 19th century, Ravello became a celebrated retreat for artists, writers, and musicians during the era of the Grand Tour. Richard Wagner composed parts of Parsifal here, and later visitors included Virginia Woolf, D.H. Lawrence, Winston Churchill, and Greta Garbo.

    Publio Morbiducci (1889–1963), best known as a sculptor and designer, also created striking poster art for ENIT. His works combined classical imagery with modernist design. This example, printed by Calcocromia Novarra, survives in nice condition with light folds and has strong historical significance as part of Italy’s interwar tourism campaign.
