Original exhibition poster created by American artist Gary Panter in 1991 for the celebrated Gitanes project “Hommage a Max Ponty.” Published by Alain Weill and Gitanes and printed in France by Graficaza, the poster was produced for the exhibition “The Gypsy (Gitane) Inspires 45 Poster Artists.”
The project paid tribute to the iconic Gitanes silhouette designed by Max Ponty in 1947. Although 45 artists were originally invited, 41 artists ultimately created original interpretations inspired by the legendary image. Participating artists included Henryk Tomaszewski, Alan Fletcher, Laura Ljungkvist, Joze Domjan and others.
