Original French poster created for the 10th Randonnee Paris–Deauville, organized in 1976 by the Association Francaise Automobile – Club de l’Auto. The event represents a traditional motoring rally linking Paris to the seaside town of Deauville, a route long associated with leisure travel and automobile culture in France.
The design by Marcus reflects the spirit of the event, emphasizing the elegance and recreational aspect of classic automobile touring rather than competition. Such rallies were organized as social and scenic drives, bringing together enthusiasts and collectors of automobiles for a journey through the French countryside.
Issued in 1976, this poster documents one of the continuing editions of the Paris–Deauville rally and reflects the renewed interest in historic motoring events during the period.

1971 Grand Prix Automobile of Monaco by Carpenter on linen
The 1971 Monaco Grand Prix took place on May 23 as the second round of the Formula One World Championship. Jackie Stewart delivered a dominant performance in his Tyrrell-Ford. He secured pole position, set the fastest lap, and led the race from start to finish. Ronnie Peterson came in second, while Jacky Ickx finished third. The race unfolded on the iconic Monte Carlo street circuit, a track known for its tight corners and unforgiving layout.
The official event poster reflected the bold, modernist design style of the early 1970s. It featured a stylized Formula One car set against the famous Monaco harbor backdrop. As a result, the poster became a favorite among collectors of motorsport and design.
Steve Carpenter, an American artist, created the 1971 Monaco Grand Prix poster. He studied in Chicago and Los Angeles before working as an illustrator for Walt Disney. Later, he moved to Monte Carlo in the late 1960s. There, he taught at the École des Beaux-Arts and operated his own studio. Additionally, the Principality of Monaco commissioned him to design tourism posters, the 1971 Grand Prix poster, and postage stamps honoring Prince Rainier III. Notably, his clients included Princess Grace and Prince Rainier.

Original vintage French travel poster by Léon Lellée for the PLM railway, c. 1930. The subject is the Roman Théâtre Antique in Arles, with its remaining Corinthian columns. The theatre was built in the 1st century BCE and is one of the oldest stone theatres in Roman Gaul. It continues to serve as a site for performances and cultural events.
Lellée (1882–1947) was a French painter and illustrator known for his regional subjects of Provence, where he lived and worked. He produced a number of posters for the PLM (Paris–Lyon–Méditerranée) railway company during the interwar period, promoting travel to the south of France. This lithograph highlights the enduring Roman heritage of Arles as a destination.
Comments The theater was built during the reign of Emperor Augustus, between 27 BC and AD 14O. One of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this monumental theater is famous for its acoustics and its massive scenic wall. It hosts the Chorégies d’Orange, an opera and classical music festival, each summer.

Original c.1900 French railway poster for Beausoleil, a resort on the Côte d’Azur, issued by the Paris–Lyon–Méditerranée (PLM) railway company while it was still formally known as the Chemins de Fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée. The design, by an anonymous artist, promotes Beausoleil as a premier Mediterranean destination at the turn of the century.
The poster was produced using chromolithography, a demanding color printing process employed by only a handful of French ateliers around 1900. This technique allowed for richly layered tones and subtle gradients, giving the image a depth not achievable through simpler lithographic methods of the period.
Highly sought after as both a travel and railway collectible, this example is professionally backed on linen and survives in excellent “A” condition, retaining strong color and sharp detail.

Beautiful view on to Fontainebleau done in lithography at the Lucien Serre Imprimerie in Paris circa 1930. Lucien Serre was perhaps the most used printers for the Paris Lyon Mediterrannee Railways system during this period. Also Julien Lacaze did many posters for the PLM. Poster is in absolute excellent condition.
GALERIE “65” CANNES (GRASSE) — ROBERT SAVARY — 1975
Original exhibition poster created for Robert Savary at Galerie “65” in Cannes in 1975. The composition presents a landscape view of the region around Grasse on the French Riviera, rendered in Savary’s characteristic figurative style with attention to color, light, and atmosphere.
Robert Savary (1920–2000) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator associated with the School of Paris. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he developed a body of work focused on landscapes, still lifes, and scenes of rural life, often depicting the French countryside with clarity and balance. In addition to his paintings, Savary was active as a printmaker and book illustrator.
This poster was printed by Atelier Mourlot in Paris, one of the leading lithographic studios of the twentieth century, known for producing exhibition posters for major artists and galleries.
